Practicing Outstanding Service – YOU are What Matters Most!
You are having a perfectly good day at work when you realize you have to contact the ONE person that could potentially ruin it. That individual who immediately makes you roll your eyes and question why you even do business with that vendor at all. Sometimes just the thought of tolerating poor service is enough to make you want to avoid doing something altogether.
It can be incredibly frustrating to work with someone who makes you feel like an inconvenience when it is his or her job to assist you. So, how do we overcome the negativity, put our opinions aside, and get the job done?
First, be honest and remain calm. Sometimes people are just having a bad day, and it may have nothing to do with you or your request. However, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and it is a good rule of thumb to never get angry with someone who can hurt you by doing nothing. Remaining calm and being willing to cooperate will get you closer to the result you desire.
Next, encourage empathy by asking questions. When it seems like there is nothing they can do to help, ask them “is this a bad time?” Or, “what would you do if you were in my situation?” These questions can help them to see things from your perspective and potentially think of an alternate solution to the problem.
Finally, the simplest solution is to do business with someone who is easier to work with. Working with businesses who go above and beyond for their customers not only makes your life easier, but it can also elevate your business. When you are not busy chasing vendors for information, you can focus on the things that matter most in your own business.
We work hard to go the extra mile and build long lasting relationships with our customers. Providing a level of customer service that focuses on high-quality conversations and being available to our customers’ needs is just one way we demonstrate What Matters Most.
